Thanksgiving Feast

Thank you Creature Parents for all your help with our Thanksgiving Feast!  The kids had so much fun!

Boosterthon At Bolin Elementary

As you may have heard, we have kicked off our EPIC ADVENTURE to raise money for our Boosterthon Fun Run.  These funds are going to go towards playground renovations.   There are individual incentives for students to get sponsors for each lap they walk/run.  Information went home yesterday in your child’s folder.  There are also class incentives for all of the students.  When our class reaches different milestones, they all will be awarded a type of incentive like shoes off in the classroom, treasure box, extra recess etc.  Also, the Kindergarten class that raises the most money will get to “mummify” their teacher!!  Let’s try to get our students sponsored so we can reach these milestones!!

Pizza Hut Book It Reading

We are starting the Pizza Hut "Book It" Reading program this month.  Each month, we will set a goal for a number of books to read at home.  Please help your child to record the books they read and color the pizza slice on the Book It form.  Sign and return the completed  form to school by the end of each month.  A personal pizza coupon will be given to each child that reaches the goal.  Let's start READING for PIZZA!

Apples! Apples! Apples!

Please don't forget to bring 2 different kinds of apples to school!  We will be doing a variety of activities throughout the week with apples!  If you didn't bring them today it is not too late!  Bring them on Tuesday!

Book orders are due: Friday, September 23.

Go to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs and log in using your user name and password.

 Sign up: At www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. On the parent page, click the Register button in the First Time Here section. Register for   your own user name and password.  When prompted, enter the one-time Class Activation code shown above. This code ensures that your order is sent to me. 

Select: the books you would like to order.

Send: your order to me online by the due date and your child's books will be delivered directly to my classroom.

Ordering online is fast and easy!  Best of all, we earn a FREE book for the classroom library every time a parent places an order online!

Class T-Shirts

Please be sure to order your child’s class t-shirt!  We will wear these shirts each Wednesday, as well as on field trips and other special occasions.  Orders are due by September 23^rd!

Celebrate Freedom on Friday

On Friday Bolin Elementary will be having a USA celebrate freedom day. Students are encouraged to wear red, white and blue. In the morning, we will be having a celebration out front starting at 8:15. Parents are welcome to come join us outside to celebrate!

Reminders:

• Please turn in all scholastic money
• Make sure your child has turned in their "homework" this week (My baby picture paper)
• Library books are due each Thursday (We will be checking out new books today!)
• Tuesday folders (Gold and White folders) need to be returned that next day. We are distributing "Tuesday" folders today, so please make sure they are sent back on Friday.
• Please keep their "sight word" bags in their green folder along with their cards so we can continue to add to the bag each week.
• Green take home folders need to be signed and brought back each day.

Read to Self

Building Stamina

We are building stamina!  Creatures are learning how to read to self by reading the pictures, reading the words, and retelling the story!   Have your child read to you using one of these strategies!

Sight Words

Today we started sight words!  Please work on these every night with your child.  The faster they learn them, the faster they can recognize them when reading.  It also helps to have them practice writing them!

Great First Week of School!

School Supplies

Supplies:

I know that some of you are planning on bringing  supplies in Monday. We still need about 4 of the Primary Journal/Mead story tablets. I noticed they had a bunch at Walmart, but they were not in the school supply section. They are located in the office supply section with the crayons and markers. Please let me know if you have any questions. I know that the supply list can be a bit confusing.

Below I have posted a picture of the journal. Please make sure it is the Primary Writing Stage 3, Early Creative Story Tablet. Let me know if you have any other questions. Can't wait to see you Monday!

The Night Before Kindergarten

I hope everyone is excited about the first day of school tomorrow!  I know I am!  Get plenty of rest and I will see you in the morning!

After you say your final goodbyes, Bolin PTA invites all Kindergarten parents to enjoy breakfast to meet other parents, PTA members, and Mrs. Joyce and Mrs. Lutrick. It will be located in the Multipurpose Room from 7:30-8:30. This is a great opportunity to meet with other Kindergarten parents too!
